“Does It Always Work Out?”

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

My post about Daniela and Sal last week reminded about how we arrive at the final look and how the vision that we started out with isn’t always what we end up.

This can be the case with my clients who book my services over a year in advance. It makes sense that things might change.

You might change your mind

You might go to 10 other weddings and they did something you liked.

It’s endless and it’s part of the process.

But it always works out.

With weddings for the summer is high gear and only a month until the autumns are set to start, I find myself looking back to reminder all the seasonal items that I have to look forward to shortly.

It reminds of a Daniela and Sal’s wedding last fall. Two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, by the way.

The look was of cabbages and burlap in green. You’ll see more of these inspired looks in the coming months.

Seasons of Wedding Flowers

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

The seasonality of flowers is usually not the first thing on a couple’s mind when picking a wedding but something they wished they had considered the bride realizes the flower of choice is not in season.

The flowers that are most popular are the ones that are most seasonally sensitive.

Peonies still take first spot. Choose a wedding date somewhere between the late spring and early summer.

Tulips, ranunculus, sweet pea and the other delicate of the spring take second place. Choose a wedding date in the actually spring which is in March. By May when you’d think they were available, it’s too late.

Glamorous Elegance At The Thompson Hotel

If I had to describe Lesley and Renato’s wedding at the Thompson Hotel it would have to be glamourous elegance with a modern touch for two of the most down to earth people.

The nuptials at the Church of the Rdeemer right on the corner of Bloor and Avenue Road were an adventure to say the least! There’s nothing like stopping your truck right on the corner to unload the flowers!

The guest tables at the evening reception were overflowing with roses, peonies and hydrangea and were all aglow with elegant candle clusters while the backdrop created for a cascade of candles and walls were accented with white and deep pink lighting.

Peony Passion

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

It’s always beautiful. Doesn’t matter how many times you see it. Almost like an illusion, just for a few weeks in between the end of spring and the beginning of summer.

Never The Same Twice

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

It’s true.

That is, never the same twice. Same theme colours, same colours and maybe even same bridesmaid’s dress or even wedding dress. But it’s always different.

How can that be you ask? Just my long experience. Like a lock in a key. I know this to be true, but I’m always struck with the same feeling every time I see my client in her dress and carrying her bouquet with her and I’m always find myself saying, that it was a perfect fit. It was made just for her.

Yellow.

Every colour exudes its own character. Green is serene. Red is powerful. Yellow is pure happiness.

On it’s own in pale shades mixed with ivories or in all its splendour of golden shades, there’s nothing quite like it.

Assunta and Richard’s wedding at the Shangri-la Convention Centre was a perfect and elegant blend of water, candlelight and flowers.

Fabulous Spring Wedding Flowers

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

Last post, I featured Lisa and Tony’s personal flowers. This week I want to give you a little glimpse into how the flowers for the bouquet carried over to the centerpieces.

An account of black could be found everywhere for the simple gathered backdrop I created for them along with the runner to tie everything together for a little hint of modern flair.

When I met with Lisa and Tony last year to discuss their April wedding, she was very keen on spring flowers and I was more than happy to oblige.

Beautiful parrot tulips and anemones in soft pastel colours of the new spring were to be incorporated in everything along with fuller blooms for a lush look.

No Longer Exclusive

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

Tina and James’ wedding this past weekend reminded me of how much things have changed. What was once reserved for the most exclusive of weddings is now not only available, but a staple that can be desired and attained by all.

Decor is one of those things and Paramount  Event Centre is one of those venues that really showcases and a dramatic setting for a head table.
