When beginning of process of deciding upon the wedding flowers the bouquets and more specificallythe bridal bouquet always takes center stage.
It’s been awhile since I wrote about personal flowers and thought maybe I should revisit this subject.
It’s one of those things that I hear most often when I start asking about corsages and boutonnieres. One of the main concerns that it not be too large or too old fashioned.
The other question I get asked is “Does it have to be a rose?” The answer is no!
There are so many flowers available that would make perfectly wonderful corsages and one of them is the gerbera.
Always perfect in shape. This delightful flower makes a wonderful choice.

I’m starting to understand why sequels are so popular. I’m calling this post Classic Wedding Colours Redux Part Deux.
I was thinking about my last post about yellows and creams when I thought of Emma and Dave and their beautiful and cool wedding earlier this spring at The Berkeley Church.
In addition to the fact that they were wonderful clients to work with I was particularly looking forward to bringing together such a unique colour scheme. The bright marigold coloured flowers in pewter urns were set off fantastically by the black table linens and chair covers.
While creams and pale yellows together make the most elegant of colour combinations, the accents of golden bright yellows make the most amazing accents.

Wedding Bouquet Of Creamy Yellow Roses, Gerberas and Orchids
“Classic” and “elegant” are the two descriptors that I hear most when I ask my clients how they want the wedding to look and feel.
There are numerous ways to go about beginning the process of creating a vision that conveys the feel that you want to share on the day and one tried and true way is with colour.
Classic and elegant always brings to mind mixes of neutral white and creams and the addition of pale yellows is a way to take things up a notch without feeling like your potentially on colour overload.
It’s the next closest choice of colour after cream and it’s inclusion creates and beautiful and soft warmth.
Roses mixed together in these colours are the ultimate in elegance. Using more contemporary flowers like gerberas and orchids this mix creates a modern twist.

With the peony season coming rapidly to an end, I thought I would tease all you late spring early summer brides of the following year of what you have to look forward to.
Whether tied together on their own or mixed with roses or any other flower that might suit your fancy, the peony is perfect.

There are so many places that inspire ideas for a wedding and the venues of choice for the festivities ranks very close to the top.
Panorama on the 51st floor of the Manulife Centre in the heart of downtown Toronto was the setting for the wedding reception of Aya and Carlos.
With a perfect view of the city from every vantage point, this floor to ceiling windows room filled with cool black leather lounge furnishings and brushed steel copa tables.
From orchid bouquet in two different shades of pink to lime accented containers filled with white hydrangea, pink gerberas and green berries, this wedding was certainly not your traditional pretty in pink.

I must be on a roll from my last post and I spoke too soon about all spring weddings being colourful.
I had the pleasure of creating the wedding flowers for Kimberly and Derek who got married a few weeks ago at Deer Creek Golf and Banquet Facility.
Their vision was to have white spring flowers to complete a black and white colour theme.
One of the neat feature of the flowers were the monofloral bouquet that each of the three bridesmaids carried. Here’s is my favourite of the three.

In the few months since my weddings for this year began, I have had the chance to design for some very special weddings and I’m hoping to be able to share some of these weddings in my blog more regularly.
The choice of colours and flowers in weddings these days are anything, but ordinary and white weddings in the spring is a rarity because after a long and dreary winter everyone is ready for some colour which is one of the many things that made this wedding so special.
Spring flowers in white was the theme for Sheena and Perrin’s nuptials. White tulips and French lilac accented with the fullness of white hydrangea and sweet roses to complete the palette of flowers used.

I thought I’d continued on the subject I started last week about seasonal flowers.
So far this season, the bloom that seems to be the favourite flower of choice among brides-to-be is the peony.
There’s only one problem. Well, it’s a problem if you are not getting married right about now and so consequently I have had to break a lot and I mean a lot of bad news.
For brides getting married between the months from July to March, peonies are not going to be available save for a few unexpected pockets here and there, but they could never be guaranteed.
They are absolutely gorgeous it’s true, but they’re also only available for a limited time only.
Plan on getting married between late April and Mid June. It’ll greatly increase your chances of getting this flowers.
So if you really love this flowers you’ll have to risk getting married when the weather will probably be unpredictable, but you’ll have the flowers you love.

While the weather might be trying to play havoc with the full arrival of spring. The flowers know that the time has come.
The emergence of Sweet Peas and Hyacinths signal the beginning of season full of wonderful and lovely blooms.
True to their names, they are beautifully delicate and possess a fragrance so sweet and light that you’d think that Mother Nature must have had a ball creating these flowers.
Flowers that only could be described as exquisitely divine, they come in a whole range of colours from creams and white, to the pale and bright pinks. They are also available in the rare shades of natural light blue that can be such a challenge to find with other flowers.
Only available for a few short weeks of the year, they are a real treat for any bride getting married in the early months of spring. Not only because they are so beautiful, but because they cannot be acquired at any time of the year.

In the first days of April, we see these beautiful flowers everywhere. Not growing in neighbouring gardens, but being sold by the bunch by volunteers in local malls to raise money for cancer research.
I’ve probably walked by these stands many times over the years, not really giving any thought to buy one when I could make a donation, but this year I changed my mind.
Maybe it’s because I lost someone to cancer not too long ago and that person loved flowers. So it seemed fitting to buy a flower so cheery that to walk by it makes you want to smile.
Gathered in a bunch these daffodils mean joy and happiness. A lovely choice for a flower if you happen to be getting married in the month of April and are partial to the beautiful shade of marigold of deep yellow.
Tied all on its own or mixed with flowers of the same shade, they are a wonderful and lovely seasonal choice for a spring wedding.
