Spring has arrived!

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

Spring is one of my favourite times of year and it’s not so much because the weather, but more because it means the arrival of nature’s most delicate and beautiful blooms.

Jessica’s bouquet was created with roses, hyacinths and stunning stephanotis accents to complement her blue and Classic Cream wedding.

The reception was complete with the fullness of fresh blue hydrangea and elegant roses.

Nothing says spring quite the way a beautiful cluster of white tulips does.

Fresh, simple yet stunning and timeless and of course, finished with a little twist of grass and bling.

Sunshine For A Fall Wedding

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

Ohh….nothing like the colour of yellow.

So sunny and bright especially when the days are overcast and somewhat dreary.

These warm golden centerpieces at Karen and David’s fall wedding at the Pearl Restaurant at Harbourfront were the focal point of every guest table.

Gerberas and roses in the colour of the sun are a perfect choice to greet your guests.

Vintage Elegance At Greystone Golf Club

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011
Inspired, thoughtful, and an attention to detail that’s even rare among brides.

I had so much fun creating the flowers for Nicolle and Kevin’s mid-September wedding.

The ceremony took place outdoors on an absolutely stunning September day with a fabric draped and rose petal scattered aisle to complement the idyllic backdrop.

The theme was vintage which can mean different things to different people and most of the time I have to ask, but Nicolle knew.

Her approach to this theme was as authentic and you can get. Antique aqua blue crown mason jars, hankies each one different to place the jars and the at set of kissing salt and pepper shakers again each one different.

It was decided that there were to two alternating designs for the flowers based on the way the hankies were sorted.

It turned out perfectly!

Peacock Feather Inspiration at The Fermenting Cellar

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

I love all the different ways that the possibilities for a client’s wedding flowers develops.

Sometimes I get a whole spreadsheet and at other times, just a few words of inspiration.

In Alyssa’s case, it was a peacock feather.

Have you ever looked at one closely and noticed all the colours that can be found there?

Well, it provided all the inspiration I needed!

It was incorporated into the bridal bouquet and then the rest of the wedding carried the colours of chartreuse green, amethyst and fushia pink all aglow with candlelight!

Minimalism In Vibrant Tones

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

For Vanita and Shankar’s mid July wedding, the colours were eggplant, lime green and burnt orange in the colour and everything was made to reflect that.

Her bouquet of only the most premium flowers were set against her deep olive sari.

For their centerpiece, I had the opportunity to create something in way that I hadn’t done and a while.

It was minimalistic in it’s bloom count and yet full in the design. Created in her accent colours and placed on a table draped in her theme colour it was a lovely combination for her Indian wedding.

Summer Wedding: Lime Green And Raspberry Pink!

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

Over the years I have naturally had the chance to observe how couples handle their wedding planning.

There are some find it stressful and not the least enjoyable.

Then there are those very rare ones who are a lovely the process, but at the same time are relaxed about the outcome and I always find that it always works out best for this time of client.

Jewel was this kind of client. She had her hand in every part of the wedding. Done with the precision of a perfectionist and yet I’ve never seen a more relaxed and appreciative soul.

Her colours were raspberry pink and lime green and her singular choice of floral was the chartreuse green orchid…for everything at her and Brian’s wedding at Le Parc!

The centerpieces at Le Parc were made in a similar theme. Tall vases filled with limes and tall branches accented with hot pink crystals for a bit of whimsy.

Here’s a close up of the branches!

With weddings for the summer is high gear and only a month until the autumns are set to start, I find myself looking back to reminder all the seasonal items that I have to look forward to shortly.

It reminds of a Daniela and Sal’s wedding last fall. Two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, by the way.

The look was of cabbages and burlap in green. You’ll see more of these inspired looks in the coming months.

I love it when my clients want to bring their own personal touches to their wedding flowers above and beyond selecting the colour or the primary blooms for their June wedding at Sunnybrook Estates.

I had the pleasure of working with Shaina and Marshall who decided that they wanted to find a way to incorporate Shaina’s beautiful pottery making skills into the wedding. She ended up making all the containers for the centerpieces!

Containers in various shades of blue were made to compliment the orange gerberas that would fill them.

No two were exactly the same making each one a special and unique creation.
