A Wedding At The Royal Canadian Yacht Club

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Every wedding has its own twist and this one included a boat ride to an island.

Cynthia and Adam’s August wedding took place at the Royal Canadian Yacht club and having their wedding there meant that the flowers would have to be transported by ferry from the launch on the mainland to the dock over at the Toronto Island.

It’s not every day that your weddings need to a boat ride or end up at a dock with the Toronto landscape in the background.

Once we got into the main hall your could feel the tradition that this place was steeped in. Speaking from the perspective of someone whose last boat ride was probably when I was 10, it felt like a step back in time to a more genteel era where ladies and gentlemen relaxed while playing cricket.

Weddings In The Windy City

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

It’s probably quirk that comes with what I do, but wherever I go whether it’s a restaurant or a museum, my first thoughts are what it would be like to have a wedding there.

I took a little break in Chicago (one of my favourite cities) recently and did the usual tourist activities like visit the museums and try out some of the more notable places for gourmet food (amazing BTW) and everywhere I went, I thought about what a wedding might look like in there.

One of the places that found particular stunning was the Field Museum in Chicago. Not even sure if that have weddings there (I cannot imagine not), but the main hall is beyond stunning especially considering how coveted our own Royal Ontario Museum as a wedding venue.

The classical architecture has not parallel. A true magnificent place to consider having a wedding in the Windy City.

Flowers In Every Place

When you start thinking about your wedding flowers, the more obvious items like the bridal bouquet or the centerpieces come to mind first.

A sign that the flowers have been more well thought out and planned is all the other places that you’d see them other than in the most obvious spots. One of the most elegant considerations for flowers is by the guest book. It’ll brighten up an otherwise simple table and highlight the book of well wishes.

Chelsea Clinton’s Wedding Flowers

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

Celebrity weddings. The fascination with them is age old.

For me between not having cable tv (a conscious choice :-) ) and being busy serving my clients, I don’t always get around to paying attention.

However, maybe it was just convenient timing, but when Chelsea Clinton got married this past weekend, I noticed and of course being a wedding florist, I couldn’t help but notice the flowers first.

There weren’t very many pictures, but from the ones that were available, I can safely say that I thought her choice of bouquet was very lovely.

Gardenias mostly in a simple hand-tied. Something simple yet clearly very premium and special to complement an equally stunning dress.

While she is one who could have done anything from her wedding, I was pleasantly surprised to see simple yet timeless choices for her flowers.
