Dazzling Dahlias For A Late Summer Wedding

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

I have a prediction.

After peonies, the next flower to garner the favour of brides will be … the dahlia.

For those of you who have yet to be introduced to this seasonal gem, they are to be found in the early summer to the middle of fall and they are absolutely gorgeous.

A few weeks I had the pleasure of using this beautiful bloom as the focal flower for Erin and Kevin’s wedding at the stunning Vaughan Estate at the Estates of Sunnbrook.

This glorious combination of stunning orange dahlias and lime green spider mums, poms and berries was carried thoughout the entire wedding from bouquets, to ceremony arrangements.

The look was completed with matching centerpieces and a stunning candlescape for their sweetheart table which I’ll share in next week’s post.

What A Picture Is Worth

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

When I first met Nancy earlier this year, she explained that she and her fiancé Jeff wanted to options as to how they could incorporate photos of their world travels into their centerpieces in a elegant and modern way.

The final design was composed of a centerpiece that placed lots of emphasis on candlelight (an absolute essential) with square frames to complement the tall orchid immersed vase in the center.

Modern Wedding At The Gardiner Museum

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Alice and Junho’s beauiful summer wedding  took place at the Gardiner Museum in downtown Toronto across from the Royal Ontario Museum.

The clean contemporary lines and colours of this beautiful venue were the perfect backdrop for their clean minialist centerpieces in cream and pink set in square vases in varying heights.

Orchid accented branching set on floor length vases set the stage for the sunset ceremony.

The dramatic family style tables that have become the table shape of choice for the chic were lined with clusters of cream and pink flowers.

A Wedding Bouquet In Jewelled Tones

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Working with all the flowers in all the colours, shades and hues that nature makes available is one of the  things that I love most about what I do.

While the neutrals and creams will never go out of style, those with a bolder sensibility for colour are now taking the vibrant colour combinations available to them by storm.

I loved making this bouquet. Richness of colour brought together into one bouquet.

Finished with a satin ribbon in chartreuse green.
