Sweet and Simple Corsage

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

When beginning of process of deciding upon the wedding flowers the bouquets and more specificallythe bridal bouquet always takes center stage.

It’s been awhile since I wrote about personal flowers and thought maybe I should revisit this subject.

It’s one of those things that I hear most often when I start asking about corsages and boutonnieres. One of the main concerns that it not be too large or too old fashioned.

The other question I get asked is “Does it have to be a rose?” The answer is no!

There are so many flowers available that would make perfectly wonderful corsages and one of them is the gerbera.

Always perfect in shape. This delightful flower makes a wonderful choice.

How To Decorate Wedding Cake With Flowers

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

It’s probably not one of the first things on the list of priorities when figuring out where or for whom you’ll need flowers.

In fact, it’s usually one of the decisions that’s almost an afterthought. They have a cake and now what?

Adding flowers to a simple cake (typically tone or tone or accented with a simple ribbon around the base) is one of the simplest and easiest was to tie the cake to the choice of flowers and colours for the wedding.

Depending on the style, they can be placed at the base of each tier or all can be kept simple and a topper can be created for the top.

The Ultimate Wedding Destination

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

When we hear the words “destination wedding”, it usually evokes images of sunset weddings on a sandy beach or a romantic wedding in an old in chapel in the Italian countryside.

It might surprise many of you planning a wedding in the Toronto Area to know, that Toronto is sought after destination for weddings.

I know this because every few weeks I get a call or an email from California, Calgary or London (England) from couples who are planning to get married here.

Planning is done over the phone and email to discuss and determine what the look will be and sometimes I don’t meet the couple until the wedding if at all.

And after it’s all said and done the planning concludes the way the planning began with an email or a call  thanking me for my work.

A Fairy Tale Wedding

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Maria and Andy’s wedding at Graydon Hall Manor late last month had the makings of everything that could be considered romantic about a wedding.

It was of course in the ultimate and classic colour of romance – pink and cream flowers EVERYWHERE.

From a gorgeous floral wreath to greet guests at the gate, to a fully floral arch overflowing with hydrangea and roses complete with floral hedges at the ceremony, this was only the beginning of the floral feast that awaited the guests.

Once the ceremonies were completed, the main hall was overflowing with elevated centerpieces finished with matching floral clusters and votives.
