A Pink Wedding At Panorama 51st Floor

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

There are so many places that inspire ideas for a wedding and the venues of choice for the festivities ranks very close to the top.

Panorama on the 51st floor of the Manulife Centre in the heart of downtown Toronto was the setting for the wedding reception of Aya and Carlos.

With a perfect view of the city from every vantage point, this floor to ceiling windows room filled with cool black leather lounge furnishings and brushed steel copa tables.

From orchid bouquet in two different shades of pink to lime accented containers filled with white hydrangea, pink gerberas and green berries, this wedding was certainly not your traditional pretty in pink.

Classic White Spring Wedding Flowers (Part 2)

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

I must be on a roll from my last post and I spoke too soon about all spring weddings being colourful.

I had the pleasure of creating the wedding flowers for Kimberly and Derek who got married a few weeks ago at Deer Creek Golf and Banquet Facility.

Their vision was to have white spring flowers to complete a black and white colour theme.

One of the neat feature of the flowers were the monofloral bouquet that each of the three bridesmaids carried.  Here’s is my favourite of the three.

Classic White Spring Wedding Flowers

In the few months since my weddings for this year began, I have had the chance to design for some very special weddings and I’m hoping to be able to share some of these weddings in my blog more regularly.

The choice of colours and flowers in weddings these days are anything, but ordinary and white weddings in the spring is a rarity because after a long and dreary winter everyone is ready for some colour which is one of the many things that made this wedding so special.

Spring flowers in white was the theme for Sheena and Perrin’s nuptials. White tulips and French lilac accented with the fullness of white hydrangea and sweet roses to complete the palette of flowers used.

A Room With A View

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Have you seen the movie ”A Room With A View”?

While the romantic sites of Florence and the gorgeous country sides of Tuscany are a world away from where I live, I have the absolute pleasure of having my own room with a view.

For the past few days and probably just another day or two more, I have had priviledge of enjoying this from my living room window.

It is a magnolia tree that I probably let go a little too long without a trimming, but when it blooms it’s like a little piece of heaven.

Blooming all but once a year, never to flower again until this time next year, it doesn’t not have a comparable cut flower substitute (meaning: you can’t order the flowers from a store,  you just have to enjoy them while you see them around).

While most designers would consider themselves creative and original (which they should), I believe that Mother Nature will always be one up on us creating visions that we could only hope to bring to life and knowing that too much of a good thing creates spoilage so we only have it for a few days to create a year long anticipation before seeing them again.
